Viniculture Museum Stuttgart

The Viniculture Museum in Stuttgart traces the history of winemaking from Roman times to the present day using historical exhibits. And the museum itself is part of that history.

The Stuttgart Viniculture Museum in the district of Uhlbach is an entertaining and informative exhibition that presents lots of interesting facts about winemaking in the past and present. Regional idiosyncrasies in the winemaking process are also covered here. The old wine-press building in the traditional half-timbered style is set in an idyllic winegrowing village, which makes the perfect setting for this in-depth exhibition on the rich, full-bodied culture of wine.

The collection includes a range of drinking vessels dating back as far as 2,000 years, a cooper's workshop, historical presses and huge wooden barrels. Display boards inform visitors about winegrowing regions around the world and different types of wine are available for tasting. Winegrowers appear in videos to talk about their work on steep vineyard slopes or at the wine press. And it goes without saying that there's a whole area dedicated to the artwork of Eugen Häfele. Not forgetting the cosy and modern Vinothek, which is the place to head to give some wines a try. Opening times: Thursday, Friday: 2 pm–8 pm, Saturday: 2 pm–6 pm, Sunday and public holidays: 11 am–6 pm, November to February: Closed
